AURUKUN, AUSTRALIA - Hoop Dreaming Management Founder Joel Khalu visited the Western Cape York Peninsula community of Aurukun this week, as part of the Cape York Employment (CYE) Youth Project.

During his stay, Khalu took a time-out to visit Aurukun State School to deliver a basketball clinic for secondary students in Grades 7, 8 & 9.

"This is the second time I've delivered basketball clinics in Aurukun and the kids absolutely love it," Khalu said.

"It's about much more than just playing sport, it's about giving these kids an opportunity to grow their life skills in a positive learning environment."

"Unfortunately communities like Aurukun sometimes miss out on these types of things, so when I do come to town I make sure I engage with the young people here as much as possible."

Along with the on-court hoops activities, Khalu also spoke to students in their classroom about positive lifestyle choices with Apunipima Health Promotion Officer Josh Mene.
